The voice behind Lattes+Lace

Hello, hi, bonjour – welcome to Lattes+Lace! My name is Rachel. I’m a Michigander, obsessed with all things pop culture, fashion, and dogs (HEY SWATCH FROM PROJECT RUNWAY). I’m a baker, a writer, a feminist, an activist, a social media specialist. My favorite time of year is Awards Season. I love to travel and am on a continual quest to find the world’s best latte.

Oh, and I’m a self-doubter.

I’m self-conscious.

I’m critical of myself.

I started this blog to share my journey of learning to love myself. I’ve struggled with body image issues my entire life, and I’ve finally just started on the path toward self-love and body positivity. Each day is a challenge, but I’m working toward fulfilling a goal of living truly, freely, and beautifully as the most honest version of myself.

I’m a lover of poetry, and I think Amanda Lovelace wrote it best in her powerful poem:

if you ever

look at

your reflection

& feel the desire

to tell yourself

you’re not

good enough,

beautiful enough,

skinny enough,

curvy enough,

then i think

it’s about time

you smashed

that mirror

to bits,

don’t you?

-use those fragments to make stepping-stones to your own self-love.
